One of the things that bring people’s attention to the Law of Attraction is the apparent promise of quick riches with no effort. Everyone, it seems, wants to get rich quick; and the Law of Attraction – as it is commonly presented by teachers these days – seems to promise just that: An instant cure-all to financial, relationship, and health problems without having to really “do” anything. This misrepresentation leads to a lot of disillusioned souls that quickly give-up on their dreams because of the predictable lack of tangible results this approach usually produces. But the truth is that the Law of Attraction is the only way anyone ever experiences prosperity – or poverty.
The underlying idea behind most people’s interest in the Law of Attraction is that, when they have more money, or more stuff, they’ll be happy and their problems will be solved – or simply disappear. It is important to be honest with yourself about your motivations; because, if this is the foundation of your efforts to engage the Law of Attraction, you will continue to attract or generate the conditions you are currently experiencing – lack and unhappiness. The real secret to engaging the Law of Attraction in an effective way is to come to the realization that the reason you are seeking money and things is so that you can be happy – and then, forget those things for a while and focus your energy on learning to be happy. It is the energy and emotion of happiness that attracts the kinds of financial experiences, relationships, and health that will make you feel happy.
This is confusing to many people; and, if it is confusing to you, or if it sounds “backwards” to you, then rest assured that you are in the group that is currently and actively attracting conditions that you don’t want to experience – conditions that you believe give you cause to be unhappy. When you come to grips with the idea that you have enough – and always have – or you would not be here, then you are in the proper state to manifest any reality you desire. It is true that some of the things you desire now will have fallen away by the time you reach this level of awareness; and that is a major cause of worry, fear, discomfort, or distress for many people – distress that further hampers their ability to effectively manifest their hearts’ desires.
“But I don’t want to learn to be happy with what I have; I want to have what I want!” This is not happiness; this is simply your ego grasping for gratification and temporary satisfaction. True happiness and prosperity comes from learning the difference between gratification, or momentary satisfaction, and contentment. Only when you’ve learned this difference and mastered these skills will instant manifestation become available to you. Honestly, do you really want to live in a world where everyone is instantly able to create any casual interest or desire that pops into their heads? Unbeknownst to most people, most of the things we think we want have been programmed into us by various forms of media – we don’t really want them and they aren’t really good for us. Credit and mass production has made it possible for a great number of people to instantly manifest the things the television has convinced them that they want; and it has also pushed the “civilized” world into a very uncomfortable situation.
You can still have what you want; but you must first learn to differentiate what you truly want from what you’ve been programmed or conditioned to think you want. Chasing those things you’ve been programmed to chase often keeps your true desires at bay – hence the growing number of rich people who are discontent and unhappy. To attract true, lasting prosperity, you must learn to focus on what you desire – this isn’t exactly the same as focusing on what you don’t have – and you must learn to achieve and maintain a mental and emotional resource state of gratitude. This isn’t always easy; especially with a world of media telling you that you aren’t good enough the way you are. But once you’ve learned to be grateful and content with what you already have, you will unlock very powerful creative forces within you – the kinds of mental resources that help you develop more effective plans and strategies, or invent new things and solutions. You will have also shifted your mental state from one that could be described as a form of insanity to one of peace and tranquility – one which doesn’t depend on the outside world or external conditions in order for you to think and feel a certain way. This is true power; and it leads to true, lasting prosperity – and riches which can never be taken away from you by force or by an unstable economy.
