When Your Hut’s On Fire

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but saw only the vast waters that separated him from family & friends. He was alone and exhausted.  He eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect himself from the elements, and to store his few possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, despair, and anger. He cried out, “God! How could you do this to me?”

Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island!   It had come to rescue him!   “How did you know I was here?” asked the weary man of his rescuers. “We saw your smoke signal,” they replied.

Moral of the Story: It’s easy to get discouraged when things are hard and going badly, but we shouldn’t lose heart.  God never deserts us.  He is at work in our lives, even in the midst of our pain and suffering.

And the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground, it just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God.

I’ll take care of myself as long as it’s covered by my HMO…

The healthcare system in the United States has Americans thinking and doing really crazy things. I write during the days, and teach and speak in the evenings and on weekends. This gives me time to answer Jennifer’s (my wife, the healer) telephone when I am not otherwise occupied. I do this because I have much of the same training and can answer many of the questions people would otherwise have to wait to have answered by Jennifer. But this also gives me the opportunity to listen to many different people coming from many different situations with many different problems. The biggest of which is not any medical complaint, but a mental-disconnect between their health and their financial situation.

Spirituality Simplified: Your Need For Security Limits Your Opportunities

Security (or certainty) is a very elusive concept, yet most people tend to crave it in a very intense way. From farm and factory workers to professional athletes making millions of dollars a year, we tend to hear the same refrain; "I just want a job or career situation that allows me to provide security for both myself and my family." If we were to dig a little deeper into that desire, we would find that a strongly held fear about what the future holds underlies it.

Spirituality Simplified: Faith not Fear

PONDER on THIS for Wednesday, August 27th, 2008 by Jeff Maziarek in SPIRITUALITY SIMPLIFIED

"Faith means that you have such confidence in the certainty of something occurring, that you truly have not one ounce of doubt about it. Or, as I once heard Dr. Wayne Dyer say during a live presentation, “faith is not a belief that you will have that which you desire, but rather a confident, inner knowing that you will.” The difference is simple: A belief is a theoretical concept, one that can be easily affected by doubt. Knowing, on the other hand, is something that comes from direct experience of your own life, and thus exists within you, unencumbered by doubt. For example, you could have a belief that you can swim, but you will only know that it is possible when you actually get into a pool or the ocean and experience it…

This same principle applies to everything you want to manifest in your life, as you need to have a knowing – not simply a belief – that what you desire will come to pass. But is it really possible to have an undying faith that your most heartfelt desires will be fulfilled? In a word, YES! If you doubt this is true, ask yourself the following questions: Do you believe that the most recent meal you consumed will be automatically and efficiently digested, or do you know it? Do you believe that your heart will instantly adjust its beat rate to accommodate for increased physical activity, or do you know it?

The answers are obvious, of course; you absolutely know that all critical life processes will be taken care of automatically, so you never give them a second thought. Why then is it that the majority of human beings are unable to apply that same mentality to the other elements of their lives?…There is one very basic answer to these and all similar questions: at some point we were each taught at some level to be afraid, and our fear then transformed into a lack of trust in the God-Force for anything other than life itself.”

Happiness: How To Be Happy Using Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

Happiness is our natural state. Happiness is essentially the “unimpeded flow of life-energy,” or spirit, through us – through our bodies and life experiences. We have to learn, or be conditioned, to resist the flow of life and happiness. In other words, if we didn’t have experiences that taught us to be afraid, worried, and unhappy, we’d be happy. If we weren’t conditioned to resist, we’d relax. Happiness is natural; unhappiness is essentially a bad habit based on fear and misunderstanding.

Many people don’t realize that the only thing standing between them and their dream is fear. At first glance, this doesn’t seem like it could possibly be true - at least not in every case. Television is Designed and Intended to Create Anxiety, Stress, and Low Self-Esteem

Many of you have already figured it out; television creates stress – period. Commercial television is designed and intended to create stress for the simple reason that stressed-out people buy things to sedate or distract themselves – or to solve the problems the television tells them they have. This form of mass-hypnosis has been so effective, there are now thousands of television channels; and, a new mass-market has been generated by creating unrealistic self-images and low self-esteem with artificial images of artificial people – and the answer to your problems just a toll-free telephone call away (and “just three-easy payments of $49.95…”).

Success Principles: Failure is Not an Option

Failure is not an option; it’s a judgment and a misunderstanding of where you are and what’s going on. Failure is simply what you have labeled a very necessary part of a very necessary process. And, failure can also be an idea used as an excuse to discontinue efforts or activities in a certain area of your life. But there is truly no such thing as a “failure,” only outcomes, misunderstandings, and judgments – which often lead to more of the same.
